Walmart Announces Its Health Insurance Plans

Walmart is a well-known name in the global market. They have a big chain of stores across the globe. Walmart is now in the insurance business. It will start its insurance services during the enrollment period. It will start on October 15 and end on December 7.

In an official post, they stated that their services will “assist people with enrolling in insurance plans—and simplify what’s historically been a cumbersome, confusing process.” The news was released on Tuesday by Bentonville, Ark. based retailer.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Americans are facing a lot of health issues. Insurance is a necessary thing in this pandemic. With increasing numbers of cases, the risk is also increasing.

Walmart’s general manager of insurance services David Sullivan said – “We want customers to feel confident in selecting a Medicare plan that best fits their needs, budget and lifestyle.

According to David Sullivan, only one in 10 Medicare beneficiaries are enrolled in a plan that saves them. Sullivan said – “And we want to be a trusted partner on their health care journey. Helping customers select the right Medicare insurance plan to meet their needs aligns with Walmart’s mission of helping people save money and live better.”

Insurance services are licensed in all 50 states and Washington. Walmart Insurance will provide Medicare plans offered by health insurers like Humana, UnitedHealthcare, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Simply Health, Amerigroup, Wellcare (Centene), Clover Health, Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield. For the elderly, they have Medicare Advantage plans. The company said more carriers may be added in the future.

In the case of Medicare Advantage plans, they offer many options. Medicare plans to sign a contract with the federal government to provide extra benefits and services to the elderly. All 50 states in the U.S. offer Medicare Advantage. Medicare Advantage plans also offer vision, dental care and wellness programs.

Walmart is facing some problems recently. Walmart has agreed to sell its British supermarket chain ASDA to billionaire petrol station tycoons Mohsin and Zuber Issa in a £6.8 billion deal.

Walmart’s insurance business might be a game-changer for them. Walmart claims to be the best and cheapest option for health insurance, with an increasing number of senior citizens and COVID cases in America.
